New Milestone: A Fine Cut
On Thursday, 7th Jan, we reached the first fine cut of the movie with a run-time of 93 minutes. After over two years of editing work we're ready for test screenings and fine-tuning!

In the spring, we'll turn our focus to scoring the film with original music. This means hiring a composer in the next couple months and planning to finish the score and start musical recording by the summer. At the same time we'll continue working with Xiangjun Shi, our animator in Los Angeles, to finish the last graphics work on the project.

Lastly, in the next month or so, a website redesign will be going up - it's in the works now. More to come when we hire a composer! Let us know if you or a friend is interested in composition or music work.

The movie is finished. Not sure why they haven't been updating their website, but you can see much more regular updates on their Twitter feed. https://twitter.com/SurroundingGMov

I've been waiting for this movie ever since the funding started. It's taking a while, to the point that a computer program beat a pro Go player. I'm assuming you guys are going to edit the movie to add/change info about it so I'm expecting it to be delayed for a bit more. Just give us more updates about it.

bad news bringer: So you went straight from "oh, here's news of how things are progressing" to "this project is a scam"?? Seriously dude?
So, you've been working on this movie for how many years ? What was your original deadline ? And now after 2 years of editing, alphago beats lee sedol. I'm sure it is mentioned in your documentary that go isn't solved yet by computers and that it probably won't be in the next 10 years ? I don't want to bring the bad news but I think you need to re-edit your movie. In all honesty, in my opinion, this whole project is starting to look like a scam. It must be great to walk around in the go scene and being received everywhere as "those guys who make the movie". I'm sure you're welcomed with open arms everywhere. The thing is, the guys who pay for this party, would like to see some value. And they have been patient. In your last post you mentioned a website redesign. In all honesty, I don't care about the website, I payed for the movie. Secondly, it looks like you are running behind schedule AGAIN. I want to make a small bet, we're not going to see this move before august 2017. And if that's the case, then maybe it's time to take some legal actions.

for the score, try John McDowell (he lives nearby in Pomona NY), his score helped Born into Brothels win an Oscar!
Perhaps this is the time to contact Google DeepMind to see if they might want to help, perhaps getting it shown at the match (obviously without music as you'd only have 4 weeks to do so...
